Can webOS be saved? TechCrunch says no
By: Tom Manning - February 25, 2013

webOS has found another home today. HP has agreed to sell the last remaining parts of webOS and its team to LG. webOS will apparently be used in LG's smart TVs. So is this good news or bad news for webOS? Well if you're an engineer on the webOS team, then I suppose it's good news. TechCrunch has a different take however.

John Biggs over at TechCrunch says webOS is "dead." He has a point. Palm couldn't save webOS. HP couldn't save webOS. The open source community couldn't save webOS. So why does LG want it? Even if they put it in their TVs, does that mean it will somehow be revived? I doubt it, but I'm hoping it is.

webOS is by far the best mobile OS I have ever used. Although it didn't have the app support and the hardware was sub-par, the UI was incredible. Here's to hoping LG can somehow make it happen, or better yet, sell it to Amazon and let Amazon use it on the Kindle Fire. Now we're cooking with gas!
