We are all expecting WebOS 2.0 to be released this year and Palm is definitely heading in that direction. The company has put out a limited release of the WebOS 2.0 SDK today. That means developers can play with the new features coming down the pike for WebOS 2.0.
Palm has released a few details of some new features coming to WebOS 2.0:
Stacks - the new way that Palm's cards work together.
Just Type - a new refresh of Universal Search.
Exibition - developers will have access to create custom functions in their apps when the phone is on the Touchstone charger.
Synergy - developers will have more access to Synergy to create custom functions in their apps.
HTML5 and Javascript support - major improvements.
Hybrid PDK/SDK apps will be fully supported
All of this is great news for WebOS 2.0 but lets hope that Palm releases some really great hardware to match. Unless Palm drops a high end phone, they're dead. WebOS is the slickest mobile OS out there, but without hardware to match it just isn't going anywhere.
