Palm Inc said Friday it is cutting its workforce. Palm has been struggling lately as it continues to lose market share to rivals like RIM and Apple.
Palm spokeswoman Lynn Fox said the layoffs began this week, but she declined to say how many jobs would be cut. "The goal is to consolidate resources and focus our efforts more effectively," Fox said.
PalmInfocenter reports they have a source that says Palm could cut up to 200 jobs. Their total workforce is believed to be 1050.
The bad news could keep getting worse for Palm unless they wake up and start making devices that people want. We love the Palm Treo, but the latest version leaves a lot to be desired. While other companies are going for larger display screens, Palm seems to be shrinking their displays.
