Palm developing Linux OS

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - April 10, 2007

Palm, Inc. revealed that it is developing its own Linux operating system. This operating system is a separate system from the recently announced Linux-based OS being developed by Access Systems.

Palm's CEO Ed Colligan said today that the new operating system will combine features of the Garnet OS and Linux. Recent reports of Palm, Inc. looking for a buyer, and the surge of Blackberry devices has apparently pushed Palm to look for more aggressive moves in the handheld space.

Palm's new OS should allow devices to run current Palm OS applications, but also offer other features like multitasking.
