Palm Treo Security Vulnerability Found

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - February 14, 2007

Symantec has apparently found a vulnerability in the Palm OS version of the Treo smartphone. The Treos are equipped with a system password lock to secure contents of handheld data, but there is a way to get around this feature.

Apparently, when the Treo's lock is engaged the Find feature is still accessible. This means searches can be performed on text in Treo applications and databases leaving the Treo data available to unauthorized eyes, even while the lock is on.

According to InfoWorld Palm has decided NOT to fix this vulnerability.
