Reinventing the Palm OS

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - February 01, 2007

PocketFactory has posted an article entitled "Reinventing the Palm OS: A How-To Guide." In the article Kent Pribbernow makes a very compelling argument about why the Palm OS interface has basically not kept up with its competitors.

"I’ll start off by ranting about the existing UI and how stagnant and unpolished it looks. Yes, I said unpolished. You may find that a strange description for such a mature operating system, but there is good reason. Unlike other platforms that evolved over time, receiving various tweaks and improvements here and there as the user experience changed and technology improved, the Palm interface remained frozen it time since it began its days as an electronic organizer interface."

Pribbernow believes that the company had the wrong focus and was more concerned with things like "choosing a new CEO for the company’s revolving door of executive management," or "selecting a new site for Palm’s company headquarters," rather than further developing the OS.

The article contains several mock ups of what he believes the OS should look like today. Check out the link below for the full story.
