Palm's Treo Capitalizes on Blackberry Patent Problems

With the recent patent troubles for Research in Motion, some companies were in a panic to find alternative devices for their executives. Joe Beery, chief information officer of US Airways Group Inc., is one of those executives who started searching for a Blackberry alternative for his work force. With his company relying on 300 Blackberry devices, the prospect of a shutdown of Blackberry service in the US was crucial for US Airways. The Wall Street Journal reports on Mr. Beery's search for an alternative.

According to the article Palm has had 1500 new inquiries for Treos and has doubled its sales leads since October. It has given out 600 free trials in recent months. Could the Treo be the "Blackberry Killer" as some like to call it? Mr Berry says, "I find the Treo is more usable than the BlackBerry. It's really the only other option we saw on the market."
