Treo 600 Announced

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - September 19, 2003

Orange has announced the availability of the Treo 600 in Europe. The smart phone from Handspring is expected to make its European debut next month. Although the Treo 600 was initially designed by Handspring, Orange had input on the final device that they are carrying for their networks and their are many features on the Orange version of the device which are exclusive to the device. This is similar to the way in which Orange worked in conjuction with Microsoft and HTC on the development of the Orange SPV.

The Treo 600 will run Palm OS 5.2.1 on a 144 MHz OMAP processor. The device features the same 160x160 pixel screen that is a Palm OS staple, and 32 MB of RAM. Memory expansion comes in the form of a SD/MMC/SDIO expansion slot, and the Treo 600 also features a built-in digital camera.

A 1800 mAh rechargeable Lithium Ion battery will offer up to six hours of talk time on a GSM network, and weeks of plain organizer usage.

Sprint PCS has already been announced as a US carrier, with Handspring promising other carriers to be announced later.
