Palm Solutions Group Expands Memory Possibilities

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - April 17, 2003

The Palm Solutions Group has announced a significant memory innovation that will allow Palm OS handhelds to have substantially more memory than before. Palm SG and PalmSource engineers collaborated to develop memory technology that extends the amount of RAM possible on a Palm OS handheld to 128 MB.

The engineering feat enhances Palm Solutions Group's long-term product roadmap and enables it to deliver more valuable solutions. Customers will be able to carry more images, video, music, applications and Microsoft Office documents on future Palm(TM) handhelds. Business-grade solutions such as email and web services will be enhanced. Business people and consumers alike will benefit from improved multimedia and gaming experiences.

The memory breakthrough has been incorporated into Palm OS by PalmSource, a subsidiary of Palm, Inc., responsible for developing and licensing the operating-system software.

Although it was developed by the Palm SG, this technology breakthrough will be able to be used by all Palm OS licensees.
