Palm Zire Stands Out During Holidays Sales

According to market-information company "The NPD Group", the Palm Zire was the best-selling PDA in the U.S. during the holiday season of 2002. Zire sales accounted for 13 percent of all handheld sales. The NPD Group data also stated the Zire had the highest sales during the first three months after its introduction of any handheld tracked by the company. In all, the Zire had quite an introductory period with more than 228,000 Palm Zire handhelds sold.

Accordintgto the company all of the five top selling handhelds during the last quarter of 2002 were Palm products. In all, Palm products accounted for 46 percent of all units sold, according to the company.

Although sales were not as good as the industry had hoped, Palm has managed to stay on top in the increasingly competetive market.
