Palm m130 - Not As Colorful As Advertised

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - August 19, 2002

According to a recent Wired News article Palm has stated that they have incorrectly informed consumers that the Palm m130 handheld is not capable of displaying 65,536 colors as they have advertised.

Althought the m130 supports applications for 16-bit color device the m130 can only display 58,621 color combinations. Palm is now faced with notifying customers, retailers, and they are also going to have to change the packaging and any m130 advertisements which refer to the screen colors.

Palm is claiming that the error is unintentional, and that the intended specs for the device included a true 16-bit color screen. Palm says that the reduction in the number of available colors occured becuase they are dealing with various components. When these components were put together they resulted in a reduction in the number of available colors.

No statement was given regarding any compensation that Palm would give to current owners of the Palm m130.
