Handspring Names William R. Slakey as CFO

Handspring, Inc., a leading innovator in personal communications and handheld computing, today announced the appointment of William (Bill) R. Slakey, 44, as Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, effective September 30, 2002.

"We are delighted to welcome Bill to the Handspring executive team," said Handspring CEO Donna Dubinsky. "Bill is a seasoned finance executive with a proven track record. We are confident that with his breadth of experience in the wireless, handheld and personal computing industries, he will play an instrumental role at Handspring. "

Slakey was most recently Chief Financial Officer at WJ Communications, a leading RF semiconductor company. Prior to that, Slakey was CFO at SnapTrack, a QUALCOMM company that pioneered the industry's most advanced GPS-based wireless tracking system for pinpointing wireless phones, PDAs, pagers and other wireless devices. Slakey has over 16 years of experience in financial management, including a senior controller position at 3COM's Palm Computing Division and various financial roles spanning ten years at Apple Computer.
