Hanspring has announced the availability of the Treo 270 Communicator in China. The Treo 270 is going to China as part of a recent deal between Handspring and CEC Telecom.

CECT will be responsible for final assembly and manufacturing in China, and GrandTech, Handspring's sole distributor in Asia will be responsible for marketing and developement.

The Chinese version of the Treo 270 will be marketed as the CECT Treo 270, and it will feture a new metallic silver finsh. Also unique to the CECT Treo will be the CJKOS Chinese overlay and HanWan handwriting input software that will come withthe device in addition to a specialized bundle of Palm OS software.

The CECT Treo should become available within the next 30 days.
