Check Compatibility of Existing Palm Apps with OS 5

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - October 30, 2002

With the release of the Tungsten T, Palm has also brought its first device with OS 5 to market. In addition to the new and improved OS the Tungsten T also features higher resolution screens and runs on an ARM chip. These changes may affect the compatibility of older software applications with the Tungsten T.

Palm has released a simple application that will scan the Tungsten T's internal memory as well as any available memory cards to locate any programs which may be incompatible. These programs will be identified as either incompatible or unknown. It appears that the program compares the programs on the Tungsten with a known database list. Programs which have been submitted to the list are passed over, but those with known incompatibilities or those that have not been submitted are flagged as unknown.
